A Content Management System for the James Reserve - Drupal 4.7
I am currently re-designing the entire James Reserve website. Our current site mainly comprises of static HTML, with a design stuck in the last century. What few dynamically generated pages we have are running on Lasso/Filemaker DB.
In an effort to empower the entire James Reserve community (staff, biologists, CENS engineering teams, etc) to interact and contribute to our online presence, I am moving our content to Drupal 4.7, a leading open-source content management system based on PHP and MySQL.
Though I have created the site's infrastructure, and have begun to implement a multitude of add-on modules to make our website tightly integrated with our sensor and multimedia networks, the site is not yet ready to show off here (as of 9/30/06). As the site's development progresses in the next couple weeks, I will have more to show.
In the mean time, here is a list of relevant modules and features I am currently integrating into this site:
- Spatial Features:
- Location model
- GMaps Module (example): Planning integration of a simplified James Reserve KML layer via GMaps API
- KML Module
- Specialized Content Creation
- Bibliography Module (example)
- Custom Content Module: for creating special content types for sensor and camera systems; displaying live images and climate measurements
- Gallery Module: Drupal Integration of the powerful and popular Gallery2 image management system
- DHTML Timeline (example)
- PhpiCalendar integration: for display of iCal & Google Calendar format
